How much hot water do you need and where?
I've seen small houses, flats and apartments with a cylinder, no bath, electric shower and the cylinder just providing to basin and kitchen sink. Stripped out cylinder and fitted a 15 litre hyco under sink unit to do sink and basin.
Depends how stack is vented, could be blocked air admittance valve if not venting to atmosphere. Correct depth traps to basin and shower? Could be pulling water out the seal.
Just leave a bucket for the fairies it will be fine.
Seriously though, if you have a fence then rise straight away and fall to stack.
