    Loctite 55

Is it normal for the end of the pipe by the fitting to bend onwards very slightly? Nothing leaked but I'm guessing it will do as it's basically a big pneumatic press

    Loctite 55

Tell you what it's like learning all over again, even though they are still compression fittings. One positive from today - Yorkshire Xpress fittings are brilliant aren't they, made in seconds! I'm a convert.

    Loctite 55

Thanks all. Need it tomorrow first thing and BSS is round the corner. That seems like what I need for this job tbh. Give it 3 hours and no leaks. The pipework is feeding the cold water tanks at a small hospital and I've had to leave them isolated but full overnight and tell wards to lock...

    Loctite 55

Just read, 3 hours full cure time. That's doable to be honest, but none of the merchants in Lincoln will stock it I bet! We have a BSS, worth trying them tomorrow. The thread is definitely quite tight, I can't even get 4 turns of 55 over the whole thread without it binding and becoming...

    Loctite 55

2" softened water feed to some massive loft tanks.

    Loctite 55

Will try that tomorrow scott_d. Just seems like there's no room in the thread for the sealant though. Had 4 turns going in, packet says 15 needed. Couldn't tighten it with 2x 2' stilsons! Which merchants stock loctite 577 chalked please? With a 3 hour cure time I'd like to try it tomorrow for...

    Loctite 55

I think I might have been a doughnut and roughed up the grooves of the thread. I get the impression you're supposed to run the saw across the threads rather than along the grooves?? Anything better than a saw blade to rough them up? That will take forever on a 2" thread!

    Loctite 55

Is this stuff rubbish or am I just unlucky? Applied it to a 2" BSP joint as per the instructions. Each time it kept pulling out or jamming up the thread. Tired 4 times in total before opting for PTFE instead. Job done..

    Brazing Copper to Brass Flanges

Brill thanks all. Much cheaper than I found before :) At those prices it's not worth brazing is it.

    Brazing Copper to Brass Flanges

What do you reckon to this? 120L Brazing And Welding Torch Kit

    Brazing Copper to Brass Flanges

Might just use our pressing kit tbh. Where do you buy Yorkshire Xpress from to get decent prices??

    Brazing Copper to Brass Flanges

Thanks all. We have a pressing kit (REMS with XPress heads) and I noticed they do pressed flange kits. Just seem stupidly expensive but I guess I'm not paying for them!

    Brazing Copper to Brass Flanges

Hi again. Another few obvious questions for those who know the answers I'm sure :) 1.) Is there a maximum pipe diameter where fittings can be soldered before it stops working? 2.) For brazing as opposed to soldering, what filler would you use to join copper to brass? Also what flux do you...

    Honeywell 832.3 Timing Diagram

hi all, I remember from my commercial course that you can use the timing diagram to work out what component his causing the problem when the safety controller locks out. https://www.anglonordic.co.uk/files/3101000%20TF%20830.3%20Control%20Box.pdf How do I convert this timing diagram into...

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

Ok so next bone question. How do i seal the bigger threads? I've heard PTFE is only good up to a certain size thread or is that crap?

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

1.5"'is 35mm internal bore ish, isn't that too small? I can buy 2" stuff. Different glue from regular solvent weld I'm guessing? Do you need chemical resistant glue as it's by the chlorine injection point? Am going to glue all the PVC well before hand and then just use a slip coupler on the...

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

Really enjoying it thanks. Got my first commercial work lined up myself, fitting a k10 impulse water meter on a 54mm softened water pipe. Apparently have to fit a section of PVC pipe too after the water meter as we are fitting a chlorination plant too and have no idea what pipe size to get to...

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

I'm going to go with auto as I don't really have the experience to setup such a big system if I'm honest. I want a solution where we just set the close temperature (55C) and it does the rest for us. Also, the ones we are looking at have a thermal disinfection mode where if the temperature...

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

At present we have that setup however we want to move to automatically balanced system as our current system is: - A: - huge B: - very out of balance So we are removing the existing manual thermal balancing valves in favour of automatic ones. I was also going to add full bore lever valves to...

Thermal Balancing Valves - Where to Place Them?

Thanks Shaun. Don't know if you can see my attachment, which would be correct? The hot water setup we have at our place has the flow and returns more like a tree than individual legs lol.
