Am I a mug working for this amount?

Same with Carmarthenshire, they even sub some of the maintenance out because I done work for the sub contractor the other day. It’s probably better than what I’m on now so may just ask about tomorrow. Really would love to work on a cruise though, seen what some of the boys were having and it’s...

Am I a mug working for this amount?

You on the books with the council or you subbing to them? I got a relative high up in my local council and if it’s the same rates I may ask.

Am I a mug working for this amount?

I’m passed the point of caring if he’s disappointed or not. I’ve given enough of my time and been given false promises about my wage increasing so I’ve started looking else where as of today. I have no idea what he charges to be honest because he won’t tell me. I know call out is 50 and that’s...

Am I a mug working for this amount?

I'm in the Carmarthenshire area. My work varies to be honest. From 1st and 2nd fixing bathrooms, installing new gas boilers and oil (he commissions the gas), servicing oil boilers and maintaining systems. Not doing the same thing all the time. After reading your answers I've decided to start...

Am I a mug working for this amount?

I was OFTEC but my employer hasn’t renewed the membership. Only recently it’s run out. Emg Co? What’s that? I’ve just signed up to buzbee but not sure if it’s any good for plumbers. A sparks I know is on it and he was loving it.

Am I a mug working for this amount?

I’ve thought about it but to even compete around here I need to be GS. OFTEC is well expensive as well for what it is.

Am I a mug working for this amount?

I asked about that and he said he’ll go half on every job I bring in, so now I’ll have to carry on as I am whilst thinking of ways to bring more work in. No idea how to get work in to a business as I’ve never owned one.

Am I a mug working for this amount?

South Wales I’m based. To be honest I’ve just done it to keep myself in work. No business experience either so I’m apprehensive about going it alone.

Am I a mug working for this amount?

Hi everyone I’m just wondering if I’m actually worth more than what I’m being paid now. I’m not on an hourly rate I get paid daily and on a typical day I earn 60 pounds (take home) I don’t work for myself, I work for a self employed guy. I’m a time served level 3 qualified plumber, OFTEC...

    Plumbing abroad? Advice?

Haha I’m in Wales so I suppose that would be foreign to you as well. Seriously though I’d love to do it, need to know what’s needed to go through with it!

    Plumbing abroad? Advice?

Looking to work abroad for a few years, or at least have that as an option. Anybody done it? Know anybody that’s done it? I want to know how difficult is the process say for example, working in Australia? I’m looking to get away from my home town for a while. Nothing really here for me. Thanks.

Time served plumber looking to progress.

Hello everyone. I'm not sure if anyone can help me but I'm wanting to do my Gas Safe. I'll be able to do my domestic with no problem (I work for a Gas Safe engineer) and he wants me to do my gas. Once I've managed to pass my core gas I want to progress on to commercial. I don't want to just...

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

Depends what level 3 you do. Mine for example was renewables because my local college changed the curriculum just before I went into level 3 (would've preferred the gas route) so much more to plumbing than just natural gas. Renewables, oil, solid fuel and all that.

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

How long does the course take and how much roughly?

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

What course is that? I thought there was a couple of different paths I could go down. Course and collecting evidence of installs.

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

I've been with one for 3 years. Installed loads of gas boilers.

As for Gas Safe. I want to do it but no idea where to start.

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

153 quid isn't worth it in my eyes. After the hard work I put in to level 3 you should just be able to apply for a card. Unvented and water regs. It's just extra money that could be spent else where such as my life. I mean at the end of the day we all graft hard to have a better life in it.

    Query about Level 3 qualifications.

That's a bit pointless really taking time off the tools to do a course that you're supposedly already qualified for so you can get a card to show your competent. A bit annoying really that colleges say this but yet the only way to prove it is to carry your certificates about. No real guidance on...
