    shower pump pulsing after use

I remember a Salamander pump I had many moons ago did this, and they recommended fitting an NRV on the hot outlet. Ring the manufacturer to see what they advise.

    Megaflo not heating enough water

The other thing to keep in mind is the ratio of hot to cold being used. In Summer, the incoming water supply is warmer so you require less hot water to achieve a comfortable 40 degree shower. In winter, you will require more hot water, so it will run out faster. You should ensure the water is...

    Megaflo Eco vs Eco Plus

I have a Megaflo, and whilst it is fine, there are equally good, cheaper alternatives. Joule is mentioned a lot, but I have no personal experience of them. The one negative for Megaflo (which is ironically marketed as a positive!) is the internal baffle they use to take up expansion of hot...

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

A condensing boiler will work to a 20 degree flow/return differential. So when heating the cylinder alone, the return temperature will increase as the water inside the cylinder heats up. Whilst the return temp is under 55 degrees, you will get the benefits of condensing. Only for the last part...

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

Good to hear its sorted. Roughly 10 degrees, I've found. Though you may get away with lower. The higher the differential, the faster the heat transfer, and the quicker your cylinder will heat up. This is why vaillant controls boost the flow temp to 80 degrees automatically when heating the...

Standard controls, so increase the rad dial on the boiler to 75. The cylinder should heat up within an hour or so and the hw too hot to touch under the tap.

Vaillant ecoTEC settings for use with vSmart and VR66 wiring centre?

I've no personal experience of weather compensation, but my understanding is that you let it learn the profile, and then adjust it by a notch or two if you find that a) the house is not heating up quickly enough, or b) it's unable to get to temperature on the coldest days.

Take a pic of the thermostat - that will tell us if it's a Vaillant ebus control or not

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

Can you take a pic of your wiring centre (wall mounted box near boiler with wires going into it)? And your thermostat?

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

I believe OP has said it's the HW dial they are trying to adjust. As you say, the CH dial can be adjusted to 75 from the factory and also modified through the installer menu to allow higher. The HW dial will be restricted to 65 as it is used to control the cylinder temperature (if used with...

Vaillant ecoTEC settings for use with vSmart and VR66 wiring centre?

The vSmart thermostat uses ebus commands to control the flow temperature on the boiler, though you can limit the max flow temperature by adjusting the "radiator" dial on the front. As Vaillant have said, your weather compensating thermostat will control the flow temp for heating. For the HW...

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

With the boiler set to 57, the Cylinder stat will *never* be satisfied. You need to set the boiler to 75. This is one of the compromises of having a cylinder which requires a high flow temp and a CH system which can run on much lower flow temps. The only way around this is to use the Vaillant...

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

Unless paired with a VR65/VR66 and VR10 sensor, in which case the HW dial directly controls the set temperature of the cylinder. And the flow rate is automatically boosted to 80 degrees when heating the cylinder. I agree, though, that unless the Vaillant controls and sensor have been adapted...

Advice really appreciated on hot water temperature

The water being 'hot enough' is subjective. You could measure the temperature at the hot tap - it will probably be roughly 10 degrees lower than the cylinder is set to, because of heat loss before it gets there. If your boiler is only set to 65 degrees, though, it'll short cycle before the...

Radiators don't stay as hot as when first on

    You're welcome! ;)

Radiators don't stay as hot as when first on

Has the boiler been range rated to match your heating requirement? How big is your house / how many rads? If the boiler is oversized, you may find it short cycles if it's unable to dissipate all of the heat it is outputting which will cause it to turn on for a short period, shut down and then...

Water flow rate calculation - not enough water for 2 showers

Does your cylinder have an immersion heater (possibly more than one - the second being higher up in the cylinder?) And if so, is it definitely turned off so that your boiler is being used to heat the water? If only the top immersion was being used, for example, you'd only get half the water in...

Unvented cylinder relief valve letting by

Yes, ask anyone with a Megaflo (or similar cylinder with an internal baffle). The relief valve is the indicator to tell you it requires recharging.

Unvented cylinder relief valve letting by

The expansion vessel pre-charge in your case should be set to 2 bar. If it is less than 2 bar, the EV will be occupied with some water under normal conditions (i.e. no water heated) and therefore will have less room for expansion when it is heated. If it is more than 2 bar, it will not allow...

Unvented cylinder relief valve letting by

Has either plumber used a pressure gauge to check if the Pressure Reducing Valve is functioning? You are right that if your system is specified to work at 2 bar pressure then pumping the expansion vessel to 3.5 bar is far too high. The relief valve (which opens at 3.5 bar) will always kick in...
