Potterton promax he loud noise
Sounds like the burner is cracked, I had one same recently, well it’s little brother the 15/2, was bad ignition and looked like it was trying to blast the cover off the chamber! Mine was attached to a heat store.- Stu-B

Ah I see, it’s a tough time at the moment with the pandemic and what-not, maybe your mentor guy is just not comfortable with taking on a stranger at the moment, I’d imagine m65 gas will sort you out with another firm, especially if it’s included in the course fee’s best of luck- Stu-B

Copper pipes or plastic pipes?
There’s nothing wrong with fitting plastic, it’s not just for DIYers as others here may suggest. For exposed work it’s got to be copper, you just can’t get plastic to look right plus the fittings are really bulky, but under floors and what not I always use plastic.- Stu-B

Electric shower circuit breaker query
It will say on the front of the circuit breaker, depending on the make it may say “off” on the switch, or green on the switch indicates off, or “O” and “I” indicates off or on. Example in the attached pic 😎 BUT... maybe your consumer unit is marked up wrong or some dodgy sparky has connected...- Stu-B

Which boiler would be best?
How long is a piece of string, there’s lots of things to factor in here, location of boiler if on outside wall or vertical flue through roof, gas pipe will need running to airing cupboard so length of this will affect the size, condensate needs to go to a drain, etc etc etc.... rough guess...- Stu-B

Is it safe to make recording studio in room with water and gas metre?
If there are no gas appliances in the property get the meter removed. Create access panels in your soundproof panels so the water meter can be read when it’s time, plus you’ll need access to the water stop tap.- Stu-B
