New Firebird stainless steel condensate trap

I look at the specs but it just says “stainless steel” which is only slightly less useless than saying it’s made from “metal”. Guess we’ll find out in a few years....

New Firebird stainless steel condensate trap

Anyone know what grade of steel it’s made from? Anything less than 304 and it’s not going to last long, preferably 316 but I doubt it.

    Riello burner reuse..

Space heaters are pretty cheap. Doubt you’d save much compared to buying one if you take your time into account. Also, assuming your workshop is your place of work then you come under Elf & Safety regs like PUWER. If you’ve cobbled something together then you are effectively the manufacturer and...

    New worcester oil boiler issues

Let the installer do it. As has been said already - if you call out Worcester and the problem is not with their kit, they'll charge you.

    New worcester oil boiler issues

If they have to travel a long way they'll be motivated to get it sorted, won't they? Have a go yourself and they're entitled to wash their hands of you. Get them back.

    Non OFTEC CD11 equivalent

Good grief. I’ve had an account with HWOS for ages and never noticed them before. Thanks for that. Now I’m off to spec savers.

    Non OFTEC CD11 equivalent

Got all my OFTEC tickets but I’m not OFTEC registered. Does anyone produce books of service forms equivalent to CD11?

    Kerosine or light oil

Paraffin and 28sec kero are much the same. What we in the U.K. know as Paraffin (dum dum dum dum....Esso Blue) is just more refined than heating kero and is better suited for indoor appliances like Tilley Lamps and greenhouse heaters as it smokes less, but chemically it’s the same stuff. 35sec...

    Potterton Statesman system burner..

I agree, but your statement was still illogical. Unshared knowledge can be very useful indeed, to those that have it. The purpose of the forum is not to educate the DIYer. A little knowledge can be very dangerous and it is the responsibility of those that hold it whether, or not, they share it.

    Potterton Statesman system burner..

" IMO there can be no harm in giving general advice".....Really? "knowledge is useless if its not shared"......very odd.

    Coal fire back boiler

That would depend on the DIYer.....but if you have to ask the question...... Presumably you've already bled the radiators....yes ???? Other than that - get somebody in.

    RDB lockout, ignition sound

Sorry Kprida, too far for me (North Scotland). Hopefully someone more local can help you.

    RDB lockout, ignition sound

Gets expensive just changing out bits. When was it last serviced?

Fast Track courses what's the truth? Ex Military, needs advice.

Superb write-up Armyash. Good luck to you, though I doubt you’ll need luck, with your work ethic. Your writing, grammar, and punctuation are a credit to you too.

Need advice connecting a solid fuel stove to existing ch system

You slipped a decimal point there buddy. Seawater is around 1.02 t/m3, not 1.2t.

    Parkray multi fuel stove connection

Takes me back. Used to have a Parkray when I wuz a nipper. Seem to recall we burned coke in it. Dad worked at the steelworks so probably got the coke cheap.

    Empty tiger loop de-aerator

Shocking that the ‘Engineer’ that did come out, couldn’t diagnose a knackered hose. May I ask how long since the boiler had been serviced, as a hose change is normally a service item.

    Empty tiger loop de-aerator

Any oil boiler engineer that doesn’t know how a tiger loop works is a chancer. Hope you didn’t pay him.
