Flexible couplings everywhere?
Perhaps thats how things might be in SOME houses but I always think flexi's are the lazy way to do things and can assure you, that my house has no flexi's whatsoever - and no plastic rubbish either.
Al joints are sweated where possible and rigid copper used...
Simple. They dont.
Safer for them to call us if pressure drops than to trust them to understand how & when to re-pressurise the system plus it would be wiser to check why, should the pressure drop BUT CH engineer can check the pressure annually when carrying out safety check.
As long as the...
I am the landlord of a rental and the filling loop was left connected and with one of the valves left open.
Tenant had emergency when braided hose ruptured and flooded the kitchen whist she was out.
Plumber that did the Gas Safety check earned another £60+ for a call out and tenant had blown...
If you are qualified to do a Gas Safety check on a property I assume that entails checking the boiler.
If, when checking a Combi, you notice the flexi filling loop in place (Taps closed) would you remove it or leave it be?
Also if you notice one valve open and the other closed, once again, would...
I have now added a few pics.
Here is the tank still in the loft with all pipes remaining and the cupboard we intend using for storage where the the old tank was.
Anyone still following this might like to see some of the end result of the job I had done.

I was asking re the tanks & remaining pipework as I will be furnishing Trading Standards with a breakdown of the issues I...
The boards that were rendered unusable were subsequently replaced with board that were approx 1cm too narrow (He reckons I was being too fussy as the carpet covers them anyway lol)
Yes I get that but it took 8 weeks for this person to complete the work and half way through informed me that he had never done a house install before (He is a heating engineer starting out on his own, I later learned) and that is evidenced in the mess he has made of ceilings, where feed &...
Yep the last one.
All pipes serving the old rads (all replaced) kept in place or re-positioned for the new and sealed Combi system installed - tank in loft redundant but just left in place. (as were the brackets from the removed radiators btw)
I have paid all but the last £200 which I think...
Just bought a property that needs lots of work doing so decided CH to be the first to start with.
Old system was 20yrs old so decided on a 35Kw Ideal boiler to be installed by a Gas safe installer.
Despite fairly shoddy work in places the boiler seems to function OK but when I went into the...
