    Scratching my head (open vent)

Well no mention of underfloor not working on open vent systems in the guides used throughout the industry and no one willing to just tell me so I’m just figure it out myself. Thanks for nothing. Lovely peeps

    Scratching my head (open vent)

I agree with you, I did suggest ages ago but they were adamant on keeping the same system. I just want to tap into the right pipes, get it running and walk away to be honest.

    Scratching my head (open vent)

I was being sarcastic as well, if you can give it learn to take it.

    Scratching my head (open vent)

I need to tap in to the central heating due to an extension with underfloor heating that’s gone in. I want to be more than sure before tapping into the system due to its complexity and being an open vent I’m going to freeze the pipes I need to, so I can work on them. I was hoping to double check...

    fixing airlocks in system, tips?

Thanks for your input people! I managed to clear it without having to use mains pressure. I linked a hose to a couple of the rads downstairs, opened the drain offs for a few seconds on each and boom, it all worked thankfully! Air got into the coil on the cylinder though and that was a bugger...

    fixing airlocks in system, tips?

Thanks for the replies lads. I done the mains pressure thing on a open vent before, for the hot though. Apprentice was screwed on a hobble so I cleared it for him. Yeah got air from vent. All rads bled, most of upstairs are working bar one or two, turned the hot ones off and waited. I fitted...

    fixing airlocks in system, tips?

Hey everyone, I've dealt with a few bad airlocks over the years but was wondering if anyone had any good tricks to get them out faster/easier. I've always been told to just leave it on constant until it settles and another time we had this plumber help us and he removed the thermostats on the...

    Going Self-employed, advice.

Yeah I read somewhere that from your self assessment they look to see if your invoices are to the same person and from that they tell you your not SE. Yeah but I’m order for me to remain earning money I need to play ball because I can’t just jump ship to another firm due to my commitments.

That’s really helpful thanks for that. I’ll definitely look into it, in the mean time I’ve been doing my own research into being SE. Am I legally bound to register with CIS? Does my employer have to if he insists I go SE?

My thoughts exactly. No wonder I hate my job.

    Going Self-employed, advice.

I do enjoy it to be fair, however my love for the game has seriously diminished due to the low salary. I've got my own van which I pay tax and insurance on, he does give me money for fuel in fairness and also he put me through my OFTEC. However for the amount of responsibility I have it's just...

    Going Self-employed, advice.

This is why I'm doing my degree because I don't see being a plumber worth the hassle. When I'm in work for my employer I'm not only doing the job but I'm dealing with clients, arranging things as well as gathering materials for the jobs. Some times mentoring an apprentice as well. Blessing in...

I'll look into that. I'd prefer to meet with them face-to-face as I can convey more information that way. Yeah I will and if he doesn't like it then tough. I'm worth more than that and it really isn't worth it. As you say there's all that to account for and £70 a day is a joke to be honest...

Probably the same as what I'm currently on which is £70 a day. I will go to see one, the one I want to see is the same one as my employer and I'm concerned about my privacy. I'm skint at the moment so I hope seeing one isn't too costly.

    Going Self-employed, advice.

Update: I spoke with my employer today and he wants me to go self employed but keep on working for him. I mean what’s the point when it’s more responsibility my end. Like I’ll have to see an accountant about tax returns and I’ll get taxed because there’s no way I’m working for 12,500 a year...

Yeah true. I'll see where I'm at in a couple of months and go from there. If I'm lucky I'll find a job in management as an undergraduate.
