Vaillant boiler noise after British Gas visit

Hi BluePlanet. I'm guessing the service guy turned off the anti-cycling feature; Vaillant Anti-Cycling Mode Explained - Compare The Boiler Market - https://comparetheboilermarket.co.uk/vaillant-anti-cycling-mode possibly as part of the service and checks. Why this might cause additional noise...

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

EcoTEC Pro 28 now fitted, with - I understand - few moans from the GS, so assuming it was a pretty straight swap. :) Cheers.

    Mystery catastrophic combi boiler leak

Silly Q - you do now have a large basin and/or towels sitting under the boiler? That is bizarre, and obviously worrying. As you say, there's few 'system-water' components above that dividing shelf, other than the MainX and the two pipes supplying it. Any longer-term leaks from the pipe...

New combi choice - manufacturer with the 'best' controls?

Thanks SCG & Gasmk1 - that sounds ideal. I'll pass that on - cheers.

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Fab, thanks Chris - phew, a sensible move by a manufacturer (and obviously more likely to stick with the make). Cool - he's going for a Pro 28, so slightly more powerful. Thanks, Shaun.

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Sorry, I don't understand - it was or was not discontinued 5 years ago? Ah, almost certainly discontinued.

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Thanks - I'll call them, as they take days to reply to messages.

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

If the 831 still exists, it should be a straight swap. The pro 28/30 might be - I don't know. Which is why I'm asking :)

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

From what I understand, the old boiler has been moved, but not yet recommissioned (part of a larger kitchen refit). Advice is to have it replaced as it's old, hence looking for an 'exact' swap if possible. Is the plus 831 still made? Or, will the pro 28/30 fit easily?

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Is the 831 still available - it should be a direct swap? And then there's the ecoTEC pro 28. Anyone know about these? Piping the same?

    Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Hi. Looking to replace a 13-year old 824 with a new combi as its location is being moved, so seem like a good time to also replace. The new boiler needs to be more powerful - 30kW (as against 24kW?) - as the mains supply will also be upgraded. The old 824 has actually had its pipes shifted to...

New combi choice - manufacturer with the 'best' controls?

I see what you say, but that would be true of any system with TRVs, Smart or not. I just mean that individual Smart TRVs, on at least the rads that are used on a daily basis - should provide the ultimate control, and therefore saving. Bedrooms will be the most obvious application - have these...

WAVIN (Hep20) UFH Actuator - is newer model compatible?

Just to confirm, they are a direct swap - clip on to the same ring, and operate identically.

New combi choice - manufacturer with the 'best' controls?

Ha-ha! I have to say, I think that Smart TRVs are great :) Ok, I only have one - in the main bedroom - as t'kids have flown t'nest, but it means I don't need to run up and down t'stairs morn and eve turning the rad manually on and off. And I certainly have no intention of leaving the bedroom...

WAVIN (Hep20) UFH Actuator - is newer model compatible?

Hi. Mil's UFH has Wavin 230V 2W actuators - model 1026. One went 'pop', and I've ordered a replacement, but the fellow that turned up is their newer model, the 35CS498, a one-watt jobbie in a straighter-sided body. I've asked the seller - the Underfloor Heating Store - if they are fully...

New combi choice - manufacturer with the 'best' controls?

Hi Shaun. Yes, conventional rads. That's the issue - finding a boiler that will come with a set of controls to get the best out of it; fully modulating, weather comp, Smart App control, Smart TRVs. At the moment, they're struggling to find a boiler make that comes with dedicated controls that...

New combi choice - manufacturer with the 'best' controls?

Hi all. Asking for a friend who is getting a new combi. They'd short-listed the WB Greenstar 4000 and Vaillant ecoTec Plus 832, and asked for my thoughts. I didn't have any, other than to ask what controls they were planning to use with them, and that's when I opened a can of worms. The...

Is it possible to 'repair' a Hep2O (Wavin) UFH flow control?

Thanks. I hope so, but how do I get to them?! I don't want to risk breaking the red cap. Is there a proper way to remove it, do you know?

Is it possible to 'repair' a Hep2O (Wavin) UFH flow control?

After balancing the flows, one of these blighters has started to drip very slowly from under the red cap. It feels loose to turn, so I suspect the seal around the spindle is to blame. It won't be 'worn' as such, as they don't get fiddled with for years, but this tiny adjustment was seemingly...

UFH zones come on at random - strange or normal?

Lawdie. With the help of a temperature scanner - an ex-Covid item - set to 'surface', we worked out that no less than 5 zones out of 9 were controlled by the wrong actuator heads. Heads now on correct valves, and all is working fine. Lawdie. (Can thoroughly recommend an IR temp scanner -...
