Hi All,
Bit clueless here, but wanted some advice if possible.
We had a new 200ltr unvented system installed recently. All seemed fine, however the CH kept turning off and rads going cold.
I checked the EV in the loft, and it's pressure gauge had dropped to 0. I opened the valves up and...

Good morning, I've just been asked that if someone has a tap which shuts of the water abruptly, such as the cartridge valve taps and water hammer occurs, would fitting a small expansion vessel close to the tap relieve this? To be honest I have no idea but I can find the logic to this question...
I have an underfloor heating system of 720M of 16mm Alpe pipe & only short 2M runs of 28mm pipe to a Ground source heat pump.
Absolute maximum temp rise of 65 degrees more probable 40 degrees.
What size should the expansion vessel be ?
I have a RM Stelflow 210 indirect unvented cylinder. Over the years it's been in, the expansion vessel has failed on 3 occasions. Any ideas what could be causing this?
cheers,
Stephen
I recently replaced a PRV on a cylinder that was letting by. I drained from the T&P valve and a little extra from the doc on the cold feed right before cylinder. I also repressurised the external exp vessel to just shy of 3bar as it was totally flat. I got a call yesterday saying that every ime...
Good afternoon to you all. Firstly please allow me to apologise if this question has been asked time and time again but i'm baffled, have googled like hell and am now maybe a little confused.
So, Saturday evening i pop out and upon return i notice water dripping from one of the attic overflows...
Hi guys ,
I've heard that you can't use potable expansion vessel hoses now when installing new unvented cylinder. As it is not wras approved. It must be piped up rigid .is this true ? What do you guys do ??
Can someone enlighten me where the water comes from which lies in the combustion chamber when the expansion vessel has lost its charge ,been to 2 of these boilers recently recharged vessels but cannot spot where this water is from , I've checked the condense hose but seems fine any ideas ?
Can anyone tell me if there is any situation where, on an open vented system, you wouldn't have an expansion pipe on either the cold water cistern or the F&E tank?
I came across it today. Looked like a decent install otherwise but it struck me as odd.
The owner said he'd been told by the...
Evening all
Had a call out today from a care home, hot water coming out of overflow.
It was from the f&e header central heating. I removed the lid and found the level was high and
Expansion was overflowing into the tank. The heating was on the rads were working fine and hot
water was also...

Hi all - Apologies for intruding, but I was curious if you wouldn't mind helping me better understand the use and preferences related to expansion tanks/vessels in your area. I'm tasked with learning how they compare to use in the United States.
- Are expansion tanks common in your area? Will...
Hi all,
Ive got a job on to replace the expansion vessel on a 25si Worcester. Customer has test the valve and water is present.
Without seeing that particular boiler model in a while can anyone recall if the thing can be removed without removing the flu that he said runs directly over and out...

Lads which calculation do you use to size expansion vessels on jobs. I have to confess if I'm in a hurry I'll go with 1 litre vessel per kw of boiler.
It's just that I go to so may domestic system boilers where only it's internal vessel is installed, at correct air pressure but there's a wide...
Anyone got any views on whether a DHW cylinder having an internal expansion 'bubble' e.g. TribuneXe is better or worse than having a cylinder with an external expansion tank e.g RM Prestel. It strikes me that if there is air in the new water entering the cylinder, it will rise up to the...
Went to a job yesterday on a Biasi with a leak which turned out to be the expansion vessel. Ordered a new one, fitted it and started to fill and the new one popped too which freaked me out. Prv appears to be lifting which was my first thought but just wondering if anyone has had this before and...
