Hi –
There are actually four questions I’m hoping you can help with – shown at the end of the post.
In my living room even with the radiator on full blast pretty much all the time (and scorching to the touch), the room is never what you’d call cosy. It has one radiator at the door (600mm...
Hi guys, first post here. Joined up to do a bit if research into a CH system we're having installed in the coming months.
Our flat has a concrete cap on the solemn, and no gap between joists and floor/concrete, so only way to go below floor is to cut channels/tracks into the caber floor/joists...
Looking at a refurb job with limited space for fitting tmv under each basin,Architect speced tmv in cylinder cupboard, but the HW is on a pumped secondary.Didnt think you could have a Tmv on the secondary pipework...
I'm trying to understand my pipework. Can you help?
There are, of course, four pipes entering the (system) cylinder, boiler flow, boiler return, cold supply, hot water out. However, there is another pipe that tees into the boiler flow pipe between two motorised valves.
What is this, where...
Anyone know of where to find accurate information for dropping pipework in a party wall? I was always led to believe you can't do it due to regs/noise but looking at other plumbers installs they seem to do what they like.
Been thinking, all pipework should be sleeved when passing through a wall.
I always sleeve gas, hot and cold, even discharge pipework from boilers and d cylinders.
Why don't we sleeve waste pipes or condese pipes through external walls? Especially on timber-framed dwellings which will shrink...
Hi will cold and hot water pipework be ok run in a garage attached to a house. The cold will be the cold feed to the house teeing of to the boiler ( boiler in the garage) and then the kitchen with the hot water pipework. Then both pipes go up into the ceiling void to supply the house. There is a...

How do you guys who do site work accurately test first fix pipework etc before the gas meters are installed? I have got a few external gas runs that I have done, awaiting 8 meters to be fitted. The builder wants to paint all the pipes and take the scaffold down but the meters aren't due to be...
Hi on some new new build houses I plan to first fix the up stairs radiators in 15mm copper coming up though the floor at the pipe centers for the radiator. i,e rad. length add 45mm per side and the correct distance from the finish wall. However I am debating how to feed the downstairs radiators...
A long time since I've been on here, but I need some more advice.
Our 'spare' bedroom has a Mira power shower. The hot water is fed from the HW cylinder which is more or less on the same level but about 5 metres away, and the pipe runs up into the loft, and back down into the shower unit. The...
Dear all,
Please can you help me understand if my existing pipework is going to be OK for the dishwasher installation. Maybe I need to purchase some other spare parts or change anything. The dishwasher installation team says everything must be in place when they arrive and unfortunately I...
Hi all. How do you guys identify the hot and cold pipe work that's been capped off after a bathroom rip out? One of our guys forgets every time to check whether existing install is correct (cold on right, hot on left). Pipes on current job can't be traced back. Combi system.
What fittings do you guys use to get it as close to the wall as possible. Do you just use chrome tap back plates with a couple of 1/2 × 3/3 female irons? I think you will still end up seeing a bit of the iron from the valve though. cheers chaps
Hi folks, another newbie! Hopefully you can help.
I'm looking at having an air source heat pump installed, which is most efficient at water temp of 35 deg C. Rather than upsizing all the radiators, I'm considering Dimplex Smartrads which are fan assisted and therefore much more compact. They...
Hi its me again.
I am using the pipe guide on a hand held bender, but still gettin ribbed pipes on a 90 degree bend?
Why is the bend not a clean 90 degree sweep? thanks!
I installed a 12kw electric combi boiler the other day.
Double checked what was the the flow and return from the manual of the old boiler before making connections to the new boiler.
Finished install, filled her up and all went well.
Was called back today as one rad, when you turn off the...
Hi all
I'm new to plumbing and I want to install some isolator valves for a couple of taps in a house I've just moved into.
I've seen just about every video on the Web on how to use compression joints and that all seems pretty straight forward.
The problem is this. ...
The taps are...
Hi, is this possible to do? I'm trying to install a towel rad and need to move pipework, and i really want to avoid draining down the system at this time of year. Pipework is also microbore if that make any difference.
I guess there are some ways to join plastic pipe to this but i didn't...
