10mm pipework

HI all after some advice again please.
If a customer wants an additional rad and you notice the pipework nearest to tap into is a rad supplied in 10mm, would you tap into this or suggest you run back to the manifold pipework, where you could tap into a larger pipe?
Problem is sometimes I have no come backs with 2 rads on 10mm, then sometimes, you no the rest:wink5:

Surely when the system was desighned they would suspect, we would tap into the nearest rad?

i would like to say i allways run back to the manifold but.... depending on the btu ratings of the 2 radiators i very rarely put them both onto one feed and one return but remember 10mm can handle up to 10,000 btu so if it is going to save the customer a fortune and masive mess when it can be done just let them know both ways and the advs and dis advs of both

When the system was designed why would anyone expect someone to bodge another radiator on to the 10mm feed to one rad.

run it back to the main flow and return then theres no probs

asking for problems not running back to the manifold,

do a search on here for rads not working then read through how many were run off of 10mm,

its not only the pipe size but also the runs flow restriction thats important. a short run of 10mm pipe with no restriction will cope with alot more than a long run with alot of restriction.

use engineering judgement or just wing it 😉
