6089 in 6 weeks?

Hello, I passed the 6129 level 2 last year and am now 5 months into the 6129 level 3, a couple of us on the course got told about the train to gain scheme where you can get funding for the 6089 level 2, the other two lads work as plumbers, I do'nt at the moment as I am in the RAF, but one of the lads said he would take me on in the summer when the college is on it's holidays, is it possible to complete the modules in that time? thanks for your help

thers no modules in the 6089, its a record of on-site work and assessment. you cannot gain a qualification in 6 weeks even if you managed the work, the shortest period yu can claim a qual is 10 weeks

The ten week period is correct. However it is a minimum of ten weeks from registration to certification, ie you cannot claim your certification within ten weeks of being registered. Therefore you could complete the work within six weeks.

try the 6088nvq instead. dont quote untill you fully understand by researching it. then you will see what i am getting at.

The 6088 is okay but it is purely domestic heating and won't cover bathroom installations.

thats correct dorset, and using the same logic theres nothing stopping you comleting it in 5 weeks either, or 4, or 7. But there is something stopping you becomng qualified, until 10 weeks

Not sure how much of this is correct, so someone tell me if im wrong..... but the 6129 will help you to gain the NVQ 6089, whereas the 6128 will help only help you to gain the NVQ 6088. The 6129 wont allow you to get the 6088 NVQ and vice versa....
I dont think this means an awful lot to the wannabe plumber, as both NVQ's are 'plumbing' NVQ's. Just depends on whether you want to specialise in domestic plumbing (6129) or heating & ventilation (6128). I have personally chosen the former.
It has taken me hours on end to derive all the plumbing jargon into these few sentences so i hope it is helpful to anyone concerned with the whole NVQ fiasco. Those who have just started looking into plumbing will understand the frustration of trying to find the right course and wanting to understand is exactly what you will be getting out of your money. Worst of all is that everyone is just as untrustworthy as the next. Im annoyed that i didnt find this site earlier, as it is more helpful than any other thing or human being.
