A radiator that fills but don't heat up

i have started work on a radiator
all that was required was the radiator to be taken off the wall and the wall to have damp rot treatment then i was to come and refit it with a new valve as the original was leaking and due to that the radiator had not been in use for over a year

all wall work complete and radiator refitted fine but it won't heat it fills with water but this could come from the return pipe neither pipes get hot when the heating is switched on unlike the others in the property

i suspect that the year the radiator was off the feed pipe has been blocked by lime scale some where under floor
but this floor is concrete so before i get to work i would like the proffession opinion of a more experied plumber as this is only my second inpependent job

Try shutting down all other rads and giving the problem rad all the force of the pump on its own and see if that works.

sure the lockshield is opened up fully?

when doin this take the centre screw out of of the pump and this will help to remove any air blocked in the system.

well do not think you have lime scale in pipework,maybe one of the valves has not opened up after such a long time closed
isolate valves,part drain rad loosen union joint on one rad valve and connect hose pipe to valve, open ,flush through,then ,close valve,attach hose to union on rad side open far rad valve and flush through,if any valve not opening,replace or clean out,reconnect rad,vent ,should work

-bleed all the air out of the system

-turn off all rads except the one with the problem

-turn on the boiler,if its still not heating close both valves

-take off one of them and open it into a bucket till hot water comes out,

-do the same on the other side,that usually works for me.
