Hi

We have a 3 floor house with an ensuite thats become a bit smelly!

There is a drainage smell intermittently which disappears after using the shower or sink.

When you flush the toilet, the sink and shower cubicle both Gurgle.

Ive checked the trap on the sink and its full of clean water.

Id do the same on the shower, but the side of it is tiled in - so dont really want to rip it off unless i have too.

Anyone got any advice to narrow down where the issue lies?

thanks

Steve

Hi Steve. The gurgling would indicate a slight blockage in your drainage. Or its a problem with your vent pipe. Also you have traps on all your basins, shower etc if hair is lying in the trap this can sook water out of the trap leaving an opening for smells to arrive. Then once you use them your filling the trap back up. If there is a slight blockage then the smell can be a lot worse. Sometimes if vent is not working correctly when running drains it may cause a tiny vacuum which can then empty any traps which again allows the smell into the room until the traps are filled again. Have a look at your drainage and clean out your traps where possible .
