Hi all,

I am in the throws or replacing a bathroom, it has old copper 40mm waste pipe, and looking to connect new plastic waste to it, it will look better as the old pipe has abot 40 years of paint on it, and will improve the flow of waste from the bath as I can improve the fall of the pipe and tidy the pipes up as they will be on show as the old copper is shocking.

Would a straight 40mm waste compression fitting do the trick?

Thanks in advance

A mc alpine multifit 1 1/2 fitting will convert to plastic from copper

I have never come across a 40mm copper or lead waste pipe going through a wall that I couldn't replace.
But I have come across copper wastes coming up through floors etc that required a fitting.
The above mechanical fitting will do, but if you need a neater looking fitting you can get a universal push fit fitting that is basically a larger internal diameter fitting, but with a large rubber seal. Hepworth hopefully still make them and definitely their m&f elbows will be same larger joint
