Advice please

i dont know if this is the right place to post sorry if it isnt. Me and a old workmate recently got made reduntant from a construction/ plumbing company we worked for so we decided to set up on our own which we have both done before in the past. This time however we are finding it hard to get jobs, we have a couple of bathroom refits booked in this month but thats it. We have advertised in the local paper, local info book that comes free in post does anyone have any advice on getting more leads/work coming in ? everyone looks at us gone out when we say we are plumbers with not alot of work coming in. work is slow everyware, sites are closing and the site workers are moving to the domestic market and trying to under cut each other just to get some work, i know at lease 3 plumbers going under in the last month. just keep trying, if your doing a bathroom installation at lunchtime post your cards to the surrounding houses or local shop

i got potted by my old firm last september, we used to work away for twelve weeks at a time, doing new installations and converting premises to pubs, it was a big chain and then all the work got stopped. i was quite happy for a couple of months holiday... then me money run out!! hunted around and made a few calls to local plumbers, 1 of them id met at the oftec course (i didnt just sit in me bum for me holiday, added a couple more qualifications to me list.) anyway met the boss of his firm, interview in pub that night, started next day!!
small firm, only 6 plumbers 2 apprentices, maintenance and service work for council, police and fire. at the moment he has about 6 months work on books, and its proper plumbing head scratching stuff. generally repairing up to 4 boilers/burners a day.

what im meaning to say, is forget the new installs, try to get in on yearly service contracts, and those boilers youve been putting in, ring your client remind them of its yearly service! it also makes you look safety interested!
