as you can tell by my screen name my speciality lies in stuff that dont mix with water!!

what im after!!

i want to install one of them mad shower/jacuzzi things in my house however my property is new and my water supply is pretty poor and entirely relies on northumbrian water pressure!! also got a combi boiler which is the worst in the world and can be very temperamental.!!!

im looking to improve water pressure for my new shower and my thinking is to install a 50 gallon tank in my loft to give me that head of water

how easy is it to install and what are the benefits!! or could i hook a pump up to the mains cold water???

I think you are on a high road to nowhere with your idea I'm afraid. Unless you spend serious amounts of cash on the rest of your system it simply won't work.

For a start as you say you will have to install a large tank pumped to your combi if your supply is poor.

Sounds like you will also have to replace your combi as it must be a high capacity throughput boiler or you it simply won't be able to supply the amount of hot water required for your shower unit and all you will get will be a dribble.

You cannot hook up a pump to the mains supply. For a start it is illegal and it wouldn't make any difference to your flow rate anyway.

For the above work you could easily expect to pay several thousand on top of the price of the shower.

Then you've also got to think of your operating costs - those types of showers could increase your fuel bill by 20% or more depending on how much use it gets. I ripped out one of them and replaced it with a standard shower for someone last year as they were getting fed up with the cost.

cheers for that mate,

may tell the other half i will buy her s new car instead!! probably cheaper

A normal thermostatic shower when runn off a combi is more than enough imo, Iam running one off a vaillant 831 it takes the skin of your back, even when it was run off the old baxi 80 eco it was splendid.
