Air Con units

Anyone on here have much experience or knowledge on air conditioning units ?? Curious if you use a filling loop of sorts to pressurise the pipework.

Ah right any idea how much that costs and how you fill it up?
I presume you have done a few of these as have one to install which turned up out of the blue on a job i'm doing .

Its ilegal to install an air conditioning system or refrigeration system or any refrigerant carrying pipework unless your Certified and registered under the F Gas regulations

when you say air con unit do you mean air con or do you mean air source heat pump as they look similar if your noy used to them

Well im not sure its of a split type unit , went to price some work yesterday topilets usual rads etc and then they bought up the air con as sort , outside exterior unit and the cassette type inside but not sure if its air source .

sounds like air con tbh and you will need an air con engineer to gas it up and commision it, but first I would look at the MIs first. having said that ASHPs are capable of cooling they come pre gassed and all you need to do is the water connections,
The only thing is if an ASHP is used for cooling it then can not be used for the RHI as the cooling side has to be disabled for the MCS

As unguided1 said have a look at the MI`s and go from there, if its a split AC sub it out and you do the rest.

I would suggest that if you feel its to far out of your comfort zone then leave well alone, having said that it may still be well worth being curious, open it up and check the MIs your not breaking the law opening the box, and it may well be one of these DIY plug and play units, go one open it up I am curious now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol wish it was as easy as that , problem being if i win on my price and it turns out to be air con and i cant fit it then i have exposed myself and could be in for pile of trouble .If it is air source heat pump i take it they are a doddle of sorts?? Also do i need a cert for them??

You don`t need any special cert for ASHP its just a sealed water similar to system boiler

Cheers for info guys , off there today for a nose at the plumbing system so will find out if its air con or air source so will let you know .

Factor in a price for subbing out the air con on the understanding that if you do not need to sub it out you will make an according adjustment, that will sound like yer being fair but do not knock to much off as you will still have to do the installtion

turned out it is an air con unit , passed it back to get someone else to do it less hassle but thanks for info.

Hold on, There are some units that come pre gassed! Really simple to fit, and can be installed without the certification!

They all come pre gassed you need to use a vacuum pump to remove the air and moisture from the pipework then open the valves on the outdoor unit to charge the system with gas for this you need F gas registration.

Look at air force diy unit, it states a competent diyer can fit them!!!!!!!
