Hello all,

I recently added a radiator to an open vented system and was told that a couple of rads need regular bleeding ie every couple of days. Fitted new rad and found that open vent pipe wasnt fixed in place and was actually submerged in the F&E tank, i corrected this and thought this would probably be part of the problem. All rads filled and ran the heating and all heating up and running ok, but a day later 2or 3 of the rads had a lot of air in them?
Any advice on the causes and what can be done to stop this happening would be much appreciated as its getting annoying now!!!!

maybe check for leaks on ground floor also tighten any compression joints around pump,to make sure not sucking in air.is system water clean ?

Thanks for the quick reply, the water in the system was reasonably clean when first drained down considering it hadnt been touched for some time, usual black sludge in bottom of rads which i would guess are at least 15- 20 yrs old. the pump connectios are quite dirty/scaly where slight leakage has been a problem in the past, so im guessing you could be right. I will clean them off thoroughly and retighten and hope for the best. Thanks again!
