air in pipes

When we turn on the hot water, and hot water starts to come out of the tap, there is quite strong explosive sputtering coming from the tap that causes splash everywhere......any idea about the reason for the pressure bubbles in the pipes that may cause this sputtering?......Parry in Estonia
