Air in rads everytime heating starts

Hi,

A month ago we had some some work done in our bathroom which involved plumbing in a towel radiator and also TRVs fitted to most of the rads in the house. The (open) system was refilled but the boiler failed after a couple of days due to a PCB board fault. After this was replaced the boiler works well (a 10-15yr old Gloworm Micron) but the radiators need bleeding constantly. After the heating has been off for a few hours and is then turned on again i can hear air rushing in the radiators, boiler and pump. I am bleeding the (mostly upstairs) radiators at least once a day and the worst offender (nearest the boiler) seems to be almost completely full of air each time. There are no visible leaks and the header tank seems to have a decent amount of water in it.

It could be anything. Needs someone face to face. Best place to start would be to get the person from a month ago to investigate.

sounds like blockage in fill pipe from header tank,usually where pipe tees into system,possibly made worse be crud from header tank when system was drained to do previous work.

Try giving it time to settle down. There could be tiny airlocks in the pipes which will eventually clear.

If a system has been re-filled with fresh water there will also be a lot or air within the new water which will need time to settle out.

I think it sounds more serious than that Paulus, a month on and a rad full of air every day?

Cold feed blockage is a good place to start - the drain down may have dragged some muck from the tank into the cf and now the pump is drawing air in.

If your bathroom guy was just a bathroom guy (I.e. Haveagohero tiler type) or a jack of all, he won't be able to help you.

if its dragged muck in cut out and re pipe the cold feed or maybe a flush is needed because if theres sludge there then there will be sludge all through the system i would imagine
