Hi, i have purchased a house recently and have noticed how load the water tank is in the spare room i can hear it filling up sounds like alot of air in the system (i can video the sound if i can upload it) is it just a case of removing any air from the rads? i have a standard boiler (not a combi) or is their something that can be done to make it work with less noise?

Many thanks in advance 🙂

Hi. If you mean the cold water storage tank, then it has nothing to do with your heating (which probably has a smaller tank or is a sealed set up).
If it is the cold tank refilling in when anyone is using water, then you could try getting the Ballvalve replaced with a quieter type, like a Fluidmaster Pro brass tail valve. A proper lid on the tank & jacket would also help.

HI, its the hot water tank in the spare room cupboard well the pipes that go to it it sounds like its water & air so have that annoying sound

Some hot cylinders have circulating pumps beside them which can be noisy if speed setting is too high, or pump type.
You also can have a lot of water/air noise if a valve on the heating pipes is nearly closed off.
Hard to say without seeing it all. If there is air moving about the system then it needs investigated to see if system design is causing air to be absorbed or not released.
Open systems (with small feed tank) absorb & release air as the system heats & cools. Problem can be if the air just moves about the pipes. Auto vents on wrong positions can allow air to suck in to system. A device can be bought to catch micro bubbles of air.
A sealed system is best for oil or gas systems if the system is sound condition & no slight weeps or water loss at all.
