what do you guys find is the best ways to remove airlocks from heating systems

had to drain an old y plan heating system, the boiler was had no automatic air vent and when i tried to reinstate the system it kept locking out, took me ages to sort it out and I kept thinking there must be a quicker and easier way to do this

Crack nuts
Shut off all rads except for one

Jamb the pump for a few seconds between speed settings, you hear a glug glug glug as all the air goes up the ov and it gives you a nice warm feeling inside to have gotten rid of the air
