I did some work on an Alpha today, removed the HE and changed the Diverter Valve, no probs....On restarting the boiler i noticed the condensate trap had detatched itself from the condensate pipe....No probs, i thought, i will just put it back on!!!!

As I tried to re attach it I noticed that there really was nothing to attach it to. There is a recess in a metal gromit for the pipe to sit in but nothing to keep it there. I called Alpha who informed me that it is a push fit......this one isnt, or at least it isnt now!!

Q's are, has anybody come accross this before? are these supposed just to push in the trap using the gromit?

Does anyone know of where i can get an exploded view of this make of boiler? First time i have worked on them

Thanks in advance

I have had a problem with the size of the plastic condensate pipe used
sometimes, like you, found loose in fitting to boiler ,this was because the plastic pipework used was a diy overflow pipe which is slightly smaller than standard size,in past have fitted short normal length of standard condensate pipe to boiler and then fittted a straight plastic compresion coupling to connect to slightly smaller size existing pipework underneath,no doubt some would say it should all be replaced

I have searched all over the net and cant find a detailed diagram, gunna manufacture a coupling using a pipe directly into the trap. Should be ok until i get a replacement. Still think the original installer has missed something or it might be me being numb!!
