Another newbie...sorry.

I have been interested in training to become a plumber for some time but due to circumstances have been unable to. Now however, I can start to look for training in earnest.
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of courses available and the quantity of training providers.
I've spoken to a rep for Training4Trade but baulked at giving him my bank account number and sort code, which he said he needed to prove that "I was a real person".
Does anyone know of any good courses available that would enable me to become self-employed in the long run?
I'm interested in becoming a good plumber, not a quick qualification.

Hi there,

I have been in your position so hopefully I can help a bit. When I tried looking around there were not many trainee/aprentice type jobs about. I am doing a 6129 with ATL via Trade Qualified, will then be taking my Level 2. This is a fast track type course and many will tell you not to do them but I found mine excellent.

I am also doing solar hot water. I think the point is if you are going to do a fast track course you must must must line up some work with a qualified plumber.

I work for my guy 2 days per week as a minimum and the stuff he shows me I would never learn on a course. So in short if you are gonna do a fast track try and get experience to run alongside it.
