Hi All I have the above Boiler and I haven't had any Hot water since Dec 22nd 2013
Due to an Error Code E34. So I googled it and this is what I found out about the Fault.
BELOW IS A GUY WHO HAD THE SAME ERROR
I had this problem last year. Shropshire Gas came and fitted a new pcb .. costing me a LOT of money. A week or so later the problem returned. Guy came out again and told me it now needed a new air pressure switch. When challenged on why this was not spotted on his first visit, he told me that there is an order they have to follow in replacing parts. If the first solution does not work, then move on to the next component. He returned with the switch after a few days but before he fitted it, the boiler started working again. I was not willing to have this second part fitted of course so the guy went away and for a year I had no problems whatsoever.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and I had Shropshire Gas out to give the boiler it's annual service. Away the guy went afterwards, telling me that all was well. Two weeks later, guess what! Error code E34 begins again. Out comes the service engineer who, after some serious head scratching, tells me that I need a new air pressure switch. Away he goes to order the part and they tell me that they will charge me close on £150 for the repair (checked on the web, part costs less than £30). Two days later, the boiler starts working again so I cancel the repair. Of course, Shropshire Gas now want another £50 off me for a call-out charge .. not going to happen.
And today? Error code 34 starts again!
I have looked this error code up on the internet and several sites make it clear this is a common problem, of which Ariston wash their hands. It seems there is no reliable solution and that money spent on a new air pressure switch is almost certainly wasted. Several people reccommend removal of flue components or cleaning fan blades and other tweaks but there is no real consensus.
Why were Shropshire Gas not aware of the various potential solutions other than replacing the switch I wonder. Possibly something to do with being able to wring vast amounts of money out of me for unreliable solutions .. leading to further vast amounts of money being charged for the next ineffective repair I expect.
Anyway, here we are in a situation where we have a problem for which there is clearly no real fix available. We will have to live with the boiler working intermittently and suffer the consequences. I certainly can't afford to keep pouring money into a boiler which really should have been going strong for years before even a hint of a problem emerged. As soon as I can get enough money together I will replace the Ariston junk with a better product.
All we can do is advise everyone we know to never use Shropshire Gas and to never have an Ariston boiler fitted.
I really need to know what should be done next to fix the problem NO TIME WASTERS!
