my mates dad has a old back boiler and wants a combi fitting instead. im quite new to plumbing and wondering when you take the back boiler out u need to loop the flow and return don't you. any advice would be a big help thankyou

if you want to remain mates why not watch someone in the know do it, and yes u do need to loop them together, avoiding to much of a dog leg if possible

Never "looped" them in my life and i've done 1000's.
If you are unsure draw the pipework out on a bit paper and think about where you would tie in and what you need to alter.

i have done it loads before but its the first time i have done it before any help

Don't quite understand what your thinking. Strip back flow and returns and reconfigure system pipes. GSR job for the rest of the work.

as pointed out this didnt come out right, meant to say get them back to the original flow/return circuits and reconfigure so they circuits arent left with doglegs that arent needed, as Tamz mentioned

if the customer will have it its usually easiest to put the boiler up where the old cylinder was in the back bedroom and run a new pair down

What about gas run? Depends on hoose! Wherever it's going it would be inexplicable not to install magnetic filter on return. I would use Magnaclean but others have their own baby's!
