Does anyone still work on back boilers? I only ever rip them out so dont have much experience with them but I have been asked to look at a baxi bermuda that wont light up.
If I accept the job I would go and check the basics first but my concern is gently removing the fire front without damaging it. I usually rip them out with no care taken

Round me they are very rare, never seen one that looks worth repairing. Get it on the lawn if it looks like it needs it.
If its something simple and its otherwise in good nick, great, youll be ripping it out in the next few years.

No, but they do come apart pretty easy. In my earlier days I have serviced a few as my Dad looked after many. I think we only have one customer left with one now, and I send my Dad to service it!

They're a 180 turn gas tap underneath so you can isolate the fire without turning the boiler off. Crack the gas supply to the fire then there's usually two screws holding the front on (Depending which fire front it is). After that the front just lifts off pretty easy.
