Bamboo bathroom flooring

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use bamboo flooring (or any other wood) for bathroom floors? One fitter said it'll expand, warp crack etc. But if it's varnished/sealed whatever will it be ok? I understand if it's just bare untreated timbers it's a bad idea.

what size area is the bathroom floor bob

Around 3.5 M /square. Just thought the new floorboards are about 1.5CM thick, the existing flooring may be just vinyl tiling so once I remove the tiling, and fit underlay and flooring it'll be much higher than it was before- no problem until you get to the door. So the door bottom will need to be trimmed. Is this correct or is there a better way? Do you fit skirting in front of bath board (would need to order another length of skirting if you do)

Well for such a small area think you will be ok, joints are glued, remember to seal edges as capillary action will take hold if not, have a bath mat for when you get out of shower or bath, would fit floor slightly under bath and then fit bath panel to suit on top seal panel to floor with clear silicon, if floor area bigger you would allow for expansion on far wall from bath
Remember to climatise floor before laying, leave flat in house for a few days, fit basin pedestal and w/c pan on top of wooden floor and seal around pan and pedestal with clear silicon again to stop capillary action and staining
As regard floor thickness you could lay treated chip board this would be thinner ,than floor boards
Just a thought,have you thought about proper linoleum flooring,the commercial kind, like the thinkness and quality you see in commercial kitchens, there are some really good finishes now for bathrooms.wet rooms ect and look really good, they are expensive but an small area like your would only be about £120-£150

hmm, i rather like bamboo,
however, i have also heard it bends like a bannana when wet/steam/moisture etc.
you cannot totally encapsulate it to these elements. but if its a small area and you dont mind replacing if all goes wrong, go for it and let us know.

Wood doors and bath panels not a good idea either?

all ok to use,just dont let moist air bild up keep the window open when having hot showers..or fit a decent exstactor job done
