Bath/shower mixer advice

I have a grohe 800 bath/shower mixer and Grohe pillars to deck mount them but am unsure about the washers. The taps come with the brown fibre type and the pillars with black rubber type. Do I use both when connecting them. Thanks

It will probably leak a little initially, don’t panic and just wait it out with a nice cuppa, some of those fibre washers are coated and take some time to swell enough to make a watertight seal.
