Hi I have just come across a type of over bath shower tap that I have not seen before The water is diverted to the shower by pressing down on a circular ring about 60mm dia ,rather than the usual lifting spigot,
.It has ceased to function and I am unable to even see how it works.Has anyone any ideas? It looks like a good quality tap.

Thanks very much for the reply ,but no, this tap is about 25 years old it is not a mixer, it has separate hot and cold .I can see no mechanical connection between the sliding ring and the internal mechanism which is why I am stumped although it is old ,apart from this fault it is in very good condition and it will be a real pig to change.

Any chance of pictures of it?

Being 20 years ol your best bet is too replace it

many thanks to those who tried to help ,I found a 77 year old ex council plumber who knew exactly what to do to fix it ,none of my local merchants had a clue.

Yes quite right ,sorry didn't think of that. Can't really go back now with my camera the lady might think I'm a bit weird .
