Has anyone ever seen a fire by this name that is a stand alone gas fire ?

I had to do a fire service on the above fire & it was turned off at the restrictor elbow. When I asked why the customer "couldn't remember" why it had been turned off there. No MI's were available.

The fire itself worked fine & pulled well but there was something niggling me as to why it had been turned off. The cable to the lights at the front had a proper connector at the fire end but the cable had been joined further back, also fairly sure closure plate wasn't original although well made.

I think this fire has been kept from an old back boiler unit although any modifications have been well done. Just wondering if anyone has come across a fire of this name & I am reading too much into it.
Left it turned off for now pending further information.

If it says Bermuda, it's from a back boiler. Which is a no no without a back boiler behind it.

Thanks Leo, that's what I thought. Never seen that model on anything other than a BBU. I realize its not allowed, just wanting confirmation.

Wait, so they had fitted it as a stand alone fire ? or took the BBU out and bodged it in? odd

simple answer if it has a round flue outlet it is a stand alone GF fire,if its square its designed only to work with a Bermuda, baxi did make a stand alone GF(gas flame) but it must have a round outlet

Not true gasman, some baxi fires that looked like the fronts for bbus, had letterbox but were designed as stand alone units with closure plate. The bbu fires, the gas supply was usually on the left and the stand alone one were in the middle at the rear

Every Baxi bbu gas fire that I can recall had a supply to the right hand side which was connected to the bbu gas isolator.
Did one yesterday coincidentally.

You right mountain i service loads of these as they were in every council house although alot have been fazed out but the gas supply is on right hand side with the fire and the isolator allows u to work on either,, oh the good old days BBU breakdowns ----- oh a thermocouple

Without the instructions why would you touch it, first thing to be done is contact the manufacturer. Working on an appliance without the knowledge needed is stupid and what causes mistakes.
