Hello. This heating system has been installed for at least 12 years (time I have lived here)> Hot water and heating downstairs work fine. Radiators upstairs do not. Have lifted floorboards but cannot find a pump Is it built into boiler or located within fireplace?

Pump will be under the floorboards next to the fire .
your problem is likely to be lack of water. Go up into your loft, have a look in the heating tank. (Smallest one) I bet you find the ball valve is stuck in mid air and the tank is empty. Push the ball valve down a few times. It will then fill. Vent the upstairs radiators and all should be ok.

Pump will be in void on side of fire place . Nick till you hear a hollow sound then pump behind there but it sounds much more Likley that its dry . Rads on GF don't work when pump is off.

If the downstairs rad are working more than likely proves the pump is working.

Presuming it is a gravity hot water system pumped heating I would imagine there is a stuck anti gravity valve somewhere which is not opening.

If its an original baxi with pilot and not electronic ignition then it will be a lot older than 12 year, id reckon that there maybe gunk in system or pump is maybe failing, ( working but lost its oomph ) or you may have an airlock in the riser pipes somewhere,,
Double check that no one has closed the lockshields as seen it many times , ive been called out to several rads not working and someone had closed all the lockshields, close all your downstair ones to see if it forces through to upstairs,,

Pump not at boiler , most of time under the floor boards near the fire and on occassions they sit vertical to the side of boiler but youd have a ( or should have ) a hatch in side wall of chimney breast

Have you tried bleeding the rads?

Pipe filling the system with water from the loft could be blocked.
