Hi,
I've just moved in to a new flat and when I run hot water the boiler starts up as I'd expect, then gets very loud. It then seems to trip off, the central heating temperature light flashes, then it comes back on after a few seconds. This causes the water to fluctuate from hot to cold and back again.
This cycle repeats the entire time-consuming the hot water is in use. It makes showers especially fun.
This is a video of the boilers behaviour while the shower is running: https://youtu.be/1Xx4WbiB5PQ
It seems odd to me that the central heating temperature light flashes when only the hot water is in use.
I will be calling an engineer today but was hoping someone could give me an idea of what thing(s) might be wrong and what to expect. Even the basics because I'm woefully ignorant about how boilers function.
Many thanks.
