I've got an oil fired 308k rayburn, not gravity fed- the water circulates by pump. Once it's going it's fine, but it takes ages (a good few hours a day over 4 or 5 days kneeling in the loft) to bleed the system. The problem seems to be that the pump pulls air into the system at the venting point, but without the pump on the water obviously doesn;t circulate. I've already burnt out 2 pumps...
Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this?
Could I put an air tight one-way valve over the vent to stop air being pulled into the system?
Can you run a rayburn on a pressureized system?
Could I run the hot water off a stove with a back burner and just not use the rayburn for water at all or will this put pressure on the pipes inside it if no water is circulating?
