Blocked loo

Hi,

Maybe a bit of a novice question but am running out of ideas.

My upstairs toilet is blocked.

The bowl fills up pretty much after a single flush, I have only been having a go at it with a plunger. For a while the situation seemed to be on the mend but recently when plunging I am getting "waste" back and after leaving the toilet for a while the water pretty much all drains out to well below the normal level but I have no idea why.

I have tried some chemical drain cleaner but it does not seem to have been particularly effective.

My only other thought is napalm but the wife disagrees. Any tips chaps??

Check your pan connector especially if it is an offset one, sounds like a blockage is happening further back in the stack , may just need renewing . Failing that slap the wife and tell her Napalm is the correct solution . 😉

Try doing a **** in it - that should unblock it!!!

Or try doing a bucket flush to clear the floaters out!!

have you lifted any man holes out side try rodding back. carefull with napalm youll singe yer eyebrows

Can you unbolt and remove the loo from the floor? Ive done that to get at the actual stack behind before.

Are there any external rodding points on the stack? Worth a trip outside to look for hatchways built into the stack for easy access.

I always use a standard mop as a plunger... it is the best thing for unblocking a toilet.

Also possibly check the vent stack to make sure it has not been blocked or capped..

Hey guys, thanks for the answers

The problem has been fixed, the set up in the main down pipe is the loo waste pipe is the highest and next down is the general bathroom waste pipe which is marginally too long and had actually slowly slipped into the main down pipe and caused the blockage.

Pulling the pipe back about an inch and a half fixed it!!

You are saying that in the main 4" soil stack there is a 40mm waste pipe protruding inside and causing the blockage. And now its fixed.

Well at least its resolved!
