Blocking a slow leak

View the thread, titled "Blocking a slow leak" which is posted in Gas Engineers Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

I am preparing to refinish my bathtub. The tub faucet leaks one drop/second. Obviously, I can't begin spray painting with a wet tub. What can I use to block the slow leak for the 3 days it takes for 2 coats of paint to dry?

Not that slow a leak, I would say, and think the leak is probably more urgent than getting the bath repainted!

To answer your question, can you contrive a way of diverting the water directly into the waste outlet? For example, by putting a length of wastepipe to run directly from the dripping tap (faucet) to the waste.

I would advise you sort the drip out though, as otherwise you'll end up with limescale all over your new bath surface.

I can tell you how to stop the slow leak, BY GETTING IT FIXED FIRST !!!!!!🤷

Obviously fix the leak! But if time is pressured on respray then cut the pipe and fit isolating valves which you can turn off now - then fix the leak later.
