Worcester 28i RSF after initial light on hot water demand burner comes on and off constantly ,but if chamber casing is left slightly ajar only by a couple of millimetres it seems to operate correctly

I think you've answered your own question in the post there mate. You need to post this in the private area part.
 
as said in your other post join the gas safe only fourm, if your gas safe then you have no reason not to.

just to put every ones mind at ease my boiler is now well again, the fan had become seperated from its plate that fixes to the hood above the heat exchanger, fan changed job done. only can think that fumes of combustion were leakig back onto the burner and extiguishing flame, fan would then clear producs of combustion and the cycle would then repeat. not sure whos happier me or the wifey
any way at least i passed redsaws GSR exam lol ...again thanks.
