hello at the moment we have a thorn apollo 30 50 boiler installed which has had a number of problems all fix able im sure, after searching for a new boiler, i want one the same or similar noticed the our boiler is classed as regular/traditional, could a system boiler be fitted without to much trouble, am i right in thinking the difference is with a system boiler you do away with the tank in the loft which would be great or just get the old one fixed ? could do with some advice thanks

You have a choice:

Combination Boiler; which will do radiators and give instant hot water. (you can get rid of all your stored water)

System Boiler; Which will do radiators and your existing hot water vessel. (if a sealed system you can get rid of the heating header cistern)

If you choose to replace the boiler you must use a high efficiency type.

whatyou have to use now, as it says they are highly efficient compared to what youve got. ie they do more miles per gallon in simple terms

what is a high efficiency boiler?

An example of high efficency boiler is the condensing boiler

which in simple terms recover a substantial percentage of the waste heat that is normally expelled into the atmosphere from the flue.

Band A of the SEDBUCK classification.
