hi need to replace existing 35 yr old floor standing boiler which is in its own cupboard with own chimney in kitchen. (1955 house)

Understand we cannot use existing chimney for new flu? or do i have this wrong?

One side of boiler cupboard used to be an outside wall but this now has conservatory on other side but the cupboard does have a small flat roof above part of it - can the new boiler be vented vertically up through the flat roof or does it have to be a horizontal exit? thanks:19:

you can use vertical flues, if you look at the boiler which you intend to fit, in the manufacturers instructions there is a pictorial diagram which clealry shows where and how far from obstacles you can fit the flue.

You'll need to line the chimney with a flexible flue liner and fit a proper terminal on top and leave access at the bottom for cleaning it. Not a simple 10 minute job and the materials aren't especially cheap, but there's nothing wrong with this arrangement and sometimes it's quieter inside the house too when the boiler's running.
