Gas Engineer
I have completed a Landlord certificate which had a Main 30 eco in a bathroom next to the shower cubicle not in a cupboard although the pipes and the electrical connection have been boxed in,i am not a qualified sparky but i am pretty sure this isnt permitted under electric regs.

The MI's to this boiler state the following

3. If the boiler is fitted in a room containing a bath or showerreference must be made to the relevant requirements.
In GB this is the current I.E.E. Wiring Regulations and Building
Regulations.
In IE reference should be made to the current edition of I.S.
813 “Domestic Gas Installations” and the current ETCI rules.

i have N.C.S'd it for location and not being in a cupboard and am interested to thoughts as to whether this should have been At Risk.

If anyone has a copy of I.S 813 or any other gas regs to share it would be appreciated

It isn't AR as AR is only a gas term, at worse it isn't installed to MI's if its not meant to be fitted where the condensation and steam will get at the electrics, 9/10 RS boilers can be fitted in bathrooms these days

Thanks so used to see them in airing cupboard and very rarely see one just hanging on the wall in a bathroom.

Mrs TP, I haven't read the link, but because someone doesn't do something properly or maintain it properly doesn't make the installation wrong, RS boilers are perfectly safe in bathrooms, as long as the MI don't exclude them as condensation may damage the boiler

As above… Nothing wrong with having it in the zone 2, which is within 600mm from the bath. Saying that - a boiler fitted with a mechanical timer or RF mechanical timer (receiver) shouldn’t be in the zone 2.

Installation in a bathroom or shower room should only be considered if there is no alternative location.
