I have a 210L Albion thermal store, electric only, used for hot water. The coils inside have obviously gone and are leaking into the store as it is overflowing (ruled out the ball valve and filler mechanism).

Question is: can I convert this to a heatbank with a plate heat exchanger? It's either that or replace the whole unit which is just 6 years old (rubbish Albion products -don't buy!!!!).

I know what parts I need to convert it to something similar to a DPS Pandora. The one thing I don't know is how to add new bosses to the existing cylinder. Is this an easy job?
Thanks

I have fitted prob 20/30 of these over the years and never had a problem.
Probably a lack of inhibitors added to the store when installed initially.

Essex flange - thanks will look it up.

When it was installed it supposedly had inhibitor already in the store in crystal form. If not then it was Albion's fault.
However. I'm not the only one - searching around the web shows quite few of the same sort of failures.
The fact that they no loner offer a technical support line also worries me...
