Hi Everyone

I was hoping someone could help.

My downstairs loo keeps making a bubbling noise. (Sorry if something similar has been posted before but I searched 'bubbling toilet', and, suprisingly (!) nothing came up! - eww if you pardon the pun 🙄).

Basically I came downstairs before and got a real fright, thought someone was shouting outside, but upon further investigation, my loo is making this gurgling noise, it looks almost like gas is escaping. Tried the flush, and it flushed OK, although it has left the water level quite high - flushed it about half an hour ago.

I would really appreciate anyones thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Many thanks in advance.

Could be sign of main drain blocked or restricted flow, other waste in drain partly backs up drain pipe to down stairs loo and forces air up through pan trap or pulling trap ,as trap bracks fills back causeing gurgling, either way man hole lid up and get stuck in with the rods

Many thanks for your welcome and your kind replies, especially the one regarding the scuba diving rat!! 😀

Will try the rods in the man hole, and the vertical soil stack, and see if that makes a difference.

Many thanks once again for all your help - it is really appreciated!

Corine

Maybe the rat has scuba diving equip hence the bubbling,

I've read the replies and wouldn't disagree (not brave enough) is it a constant bubble or just when its filling up?

The reason I ask I repaired a toilet for someone the other day that was making an awful racket when it was re-filling, the fact that you took the top off and the water level seemed a bit high MAY indicate to a faulty inlet valve?
