Can anyone recommend a good SEO company?

Hi all. I've got a website which was ranked number 1 on Google before I moved my business. I'm looking for a good company (preferably one someone on here has used) that can help me get on the first page of Google (organic, not pay per click) for my local area. I remember how good it was being number 1 in my local town before and I'm happy to pay someone to help me get towards that here.

I'm happy building websites but getting my own website to number 1 before was more by luck/lack of competition than anything else.

I cannot recommend anyone but have been pestered loads of times by so called firms that are related to goggle or yell etc so they say. I would pay if I knew they were genuine and it was going to work ,But after getting screwed a few years back by scoot for a couple of grand for nothing leaves a bad taste
