There are a couple of glitches I'm working through but could you guys have a browse around it should be quite low advert wise. See my other thread in Whats New with regards to the advert changes. I think you'll like them.

But I'd like to take this chance to ask any member to please give me feedback whether on the forum, me myself, a forum category issue, anything that you think would help get some posting going on moving forward.

Please give me some feedback, any feedback at all. And I'll respond to each and every one of you and will keep doing so when you reply again.

I hope to get some constructive criticism and suggestions and things.

If you agree with other people's posts click like so I can get a feel on the % of people that subject bothers etc.

Need some members involved in the place and I think this is a good start in trying to understand where I'm going wrong.

Thanks
Dan

There seems to be an intermittent issue with the 'theme' mechanism for pages. I normally look at the "What's New" listing and follow links to the threads from there. Sometimes the theme works fine (blue background and borders) and sometimes it doesn't (white background, top menu background is transparent, editing box does not highlight selection). I've attached a screenshot of the "doesn't case". Both Safari and Firefox behave the same.

I've cleared caches, reloaded pages, restarted my computer, etc. I've checked the browser console. There are two errors logged for this page:

[Error] ReferenceError: Can't find variable: $
Global Code (can-you-come-checkout-the-forums-in-general-and-give-me-some-feedback-please.134117:159)
[Error] ReferenceError: Can't find variable: jQuery
Global Code (editor.min.js:7:141)

This has started happening since the most recent update.

Good hunting!

And suddenly it's working again! The editor is now highlighting the selected text correctly. The error messages are still present in the console so they are probably a red herring.
[automerge]1737726737[/automerge]
...

And the annoying auto-merging of posts seems to be back. Last time this was enabled it made threads harder to comprehend by re-ordering the dialog.

@Chuck mate can you see if the error messages are still there in console for me?

I think I've removed everything using JQuery which has been discontinued in this version.

Some add on was still asking for it when it wasn't there.

Tilers forums is at the stage where it's half loading blue half invisible lol

And elec didn't work twice so they're staying on the old version for a few weeks longer.

And I broke diytalk and contractortalk beyond repair so those will be fresh installs again

I haven't read all above but mine is sometimes OK sometimes like a ghost. Meaning there's no colour and things are on top of each other. There are times I log in and the boxes aren't there so I guess where they are. I presumed you were working on it and that's why it looks odd.
Mostly it looks OK.

Yeah it should be just a cache issue but may be something else I'm near all the time as was working in the others. Tilers defo doing it loads like when this was first done.

The input box totally went on electricians so pulled that back while I suss it out properly on these two.

The second jQuery error seems to have gone but the other one:

[Error] ReferenceError: Can't find variable: $
Global Code (can-you-come-checkout-the-forums-in-general-and-give-me-some-feedback-please.134117:155)

is still there. It seems to be triggered by this line:

<script>$(".flags").on('touch click',function(){if(event.handled===false)return
[automerge]1737756818[/automerge]
If you're using a CDN, could it be that it's sometimes delivering stale copies of the site, i.e. needs its cache purging?

That's something else. Try now for me matey.

(I could likely load a cache and it still appear there to me)

Still getting the ghost thing. One thing over another with no colour. Not everywhere but login and between posts.

Yeah I'm getting it too.

We are running full on a new style but there does seem to be some cache issues

The page is now displaying with no errors or warnings in the javascript console.

It's also displaying with the expected blue style, etc. No sign of the 'ghost style' for me at the moment.

So far so good!

A couple of days later, I'm still seeing the 'ghost style' from time-to-time.

I'm not sure whether this is related or not but the dates displayed with posts don't seem to be correct. On this page, for example, they are currently all displayed as 'later_today_at_x'

The dates seem to be working nicely again.

The 'ghost' page-style is still coming and going.

When the ghost-style is applied the pages says '..select the style called "PLUMBERS TALK 2025".' but this option is not present at the bottom of the page. The usual 'style-variation' link is present, however. This may be a clue, perhaps?

I've just emptied my cache and, on this occasion, the style has reloaded and is now displaying something more reasonable. (Dark and light blue background areas, orange text for headings.)

Yeah that's the new one mate.

I've enabled the other style too. If it keeps going flick to the other and it should kick in.

I have this issue on several forums and am working it out.

Keep us posted in this thread though if you do get stuck with the ghosting I might need to flush the cache server end.

I got it again I just switched to the orange one and its fine again. This may go again (hopefully) as I want the blue one ha

There's been another update so I've upgraded all forums again and the issue has stopped. I think.

Let me know if it does it again on you lads please. 👦

P.s. you can now use the blue or the orange. But both need work I know. But it has saved me some time and got us back running.

Once I've configured all the settings and optimised the site for search engines I'll jump right back on the style and sort them both out.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for reducing ads.
For a while I was confused by "Search forums" disappearing into "What's new?" but now I know where it is, all plain sailing!
How far back do the posts go now? I got the feeling you had archived some. I know they can't go on for ever, but they can be useful sometimes ..

They go forever!

I don't hide any after a period of time. The idea is even ones from 2006 when we started they're all here.

Some jobs related content got erased as it was fishy. Other than that it's all here.
