Hi all, I have a problem which I need some help with please. I need to fit a 50mm common waste between floor joists, the only drain point close is a soil pipe 90d bend (with no straight pipe from either end exposed). To save having to take the 50mm waste through the wall and connect to the soil pipe from outside, is it possible to fit a boss strap to the bend? Advice much appreciated.

I've seen bent pan connectors with a built in boss. Space savers I think they're called? If it's a long radius bend then I don't see why not. Standard bends don't give you much space to attach a boss and you might end up going through the soil pipe that is going into the bend with your boss and cause a leak. Think that it may also encourage blockages as loo paper may get caught in the new hole you drill for the boss.

Much better to do it right and the hard way and connect it outside. At least if it leaks then water will be on the outside of the building.

I guess youre right, thanks for the advice ill take the waste thru the wall. Thanks again

Should work as long as it doesn't freeze in the winter, which means you might want the join in the house after all! As mentioned, you can buy bends and pan connectors with built in bosses.
