can't find supplier for O ring for shower dip tube - anyone help?

It seems such a simple request, but you'd think I was asking for the earth! I need a replacement rubber O ring for the dip tube on my shower. It's perished and expanded and no longer fits snugly when I push the dip tube home. Spoken to loads of plumbers merchants who say they don't stock them, try this place and that place, and all without success. Surely I can find a replacement rubber o ring, without having to purchase a replacement dip tube. Anyone got any help to offer?

How about PTFE tape?

Try Toolstation. They will do a set of plumbers 'O' rings in various sizes. Should have what you want.

Are those the ones that come in metric or imperial and you have to buy a selection box?

Thats the ones. Also from Plumbfix (Screwfix).

Thanks for all your help everyone. Have tried all the suppliers suggested, and loads more found on the internet. The ring measures approx 38-39mm diameter, and it's really really fine (almost like a piece of cotton, or fine elastic band). I can't believe I can't find this, happy to replace the O Ring or the whole dip tube, but can't find either.
