Hello all.
im new to the group and I'm seeking some advice... To cut a long story short I'm 22 years old and I'm currently in the process of leaving the armed forces and will be out as of July next year (2015). I am hoping to gain an apprenticeship in heating engineering and so far my searches haven't brought me much luck! I've contacted all of the big companies, British gas etc... With no luck. I've also contacted multiple local companies in Central scotland for general advice and haven't had much luck with this either, (too many different opinions to know which ones to know what's useful and what isn't) I've also looked into paying for a course, however I'm wary of this because I know that I would be better off getting time served and saving my money... In summary any general advice is greatly appreciated as I'm running out of ideas and just want a chance in the industry to be honest.

Hi there Marc, we have daily posts similar to yourself with guys interested in learning the trade , i know some of the bigger companies up my way take on alot of ex raf guys as adult trainees,
My only advice that i can give you is its a great trade to get into and dont be disheartened with no joy keep the chin up an persevere, something will turn up,

Try National Grid mate ,ive heard they take on some ex forces

Thanks for the replies! Do any of you think an apprenticeship is a realistic idea at my age or am I wasting my time?

This will probably be a stupid question since the word "national"... But I was under the impression that the jobs for national grid were only in England?
