Hi forum
i need some expert help regarding the replacement of my exsisting hot water cylinder. I currently have a taxi Bermuda back boiler running a gravity fed central heating system with a indirect hot cylinder.
the problem i have is the hot water cylinder has sprung a leak so it requires replacing. I went to my local plumbers merchant this morning and purchased a replacement. The problem i have is as follows the new tank has two connections to one side (flow and return) but also has two connections to the other side.
my leaking tank has a flow and return on one side and only only one connection on the other side. Im lost in trying to understand why the new tank has this extra connection when i gave the plumbers merchant the correct details.
the new tank is 1200 high instead of the old tank only being 900 tall.
can anyone please help me with some sort of info please?
regards

tony

The second tapping will be a take off for a shower or secondary return. Did you specify a cylinder for gravity hot water? A standard cylinder may not work.

as mike says you should have a cylinder specified for gravity circulation. most cylinders these days are designed for modern fully pumped systems which you do not have! a standard cylinder will work most likely however the heat recovery time of your cylinder will be compromised because a standard cylinder has a smaller diameter coil.

dont worry about the extra tapping just blank it off if not required.

Morning everyone thank you for help guys. Does this mean that i could potentially pipe in my mira gravity fed power shower in to the top oulet, and leave the bottom outlet as my existing drain off?

thank you in advance
